About the blend
These chisels are assembled by force-fitting a forged tang into a wooden handle. This attachment method allows for a shorter tool that remains durable for its intended use. Replacing the handle is also much easier than with a socket chisel.

I forge my chisels from C70 carbon steel, which achieves a hardness of 60–62 HRC after heat treatment. It is a durable, shock-resistant steel that is easy to sharpen. Its downside is its susceptibility to oxidation, so it requires care.
About the steel

Ash strikes an excellent balance between flexibility, hardness, durability, and price. It reveals beautiful grain patterns when finished with Tung oil. It is a wood very commonly used for necks these days.
Ash Handle
Cormier handle
The cormier s one of the hardest woods in Europe. Highly resistant to rot, it was used for gear components in flour mills due to its exceptional strength. Today, it is a very rare wood that combines aesthetic appeal, strength, and extreme durability. The mallet will never damage the handle, given the wood's hardness and resilience. It is also heavier, placing the balance point closer to the hand, which makes it easier to handle. Its density makes it very pleasant to hold, as the surface is exceptionally smooth. Its nearly uniform reddish hue—ranging from lighter to darker shades—gives it a very elegant appearance.

I can fit the handle with a striking ferrule (a steel ring at the top of the handle) to reinforce its structural integrity.
However, this makes the tool less comfortable to handle during paring work, as the ferrule comes into contact with the palm of the hand. The ferrule is made of 2 mm thick steel and measures approximately 10 mm in height, ensuring maximum handle stability and preventing deformation during repeated striking.
Available only with an ash handle and a stainless steel ferrule.
No change in price.

The side bevels are at 60 degrees and taper to a thickness of nearly 0 mm.
This makes them perfectly suited for the sharpest joinery, such as dovetails.
I usually use a sharpening angle of 25 degrees, resulting in a razor-sharp edge, though this can be adjusted to your preference.

I also offer leather sheaths to protect your cutting edges from the hazards of the job site or workshop.
